Herman Jones Services

Services for Herman Jones were held Monday, December 6, 1982 at 1:00 p.m. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, Iowa with Rev. Curtis Webster officiating. Pallbearers were Harry Jones, Harley Jones, Howard Jones, Henry Jones, Herman Jones, Jr., and Hal Jones. Burial was in the Rossville Cemetery.

Herman LeRoy Jones, the son of George and Lydia (Wachter) Jones, was born May 14, 1927 at rural Harpers Ferry, Allamakee County, Iowa. He resided in the vicinity his entire life. On August 16, 1951 he was united in marriage to Arlene Fish at Waukon. To this union 15 children were born. His occupation was in construction for 20½ years. His death occurred Friday, December 3, 1982 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa following a lingering illness. He reached the age of 55 years, 6 months, 19 days.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, one sister and three grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Arlene, six sons and nine daughters, Harry, Harley, Henry, Herman, Jr., and Hilda of McGregor, Marquette area, Hope Gates, Heidi Kelly, Mrs. Michael (Helen) McGeough, Harlene, Mrs. John (Hattie) Conway and Howard of Harpers Ferry vicinity, Mrs. Steven (Holly) Wagner, PDC, Wisc., Heather, Hal and Hillary at home. Herman is also survived by 21 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Helen) Sawvell of Rockford, Illinois, and Mrs. Leo (Harriet) Fish of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, many relatives and a host of friends.
