Services Held For Coral A. Jones On Wednesday
Funeral services were held last Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral home for Mrs. Coral Abbie Jones, who passed away at Postville Hospital on Sunday, August 13.
The rites were conducted by Rev. Walter T. Martin. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
Mrs. Coral Abbie Jones daughter of Richard and Alice Pearson was born June 27, 1887 at Hardin. She passed away at the Postville Hospital Sunday, August 13.
In March 1908 she was united in marriage to Colby C. Jones of Hardin, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Earl Victor Jones of Rogers, Arkansas and Coral Abbie Elington, also of Rogers.
The first ten years of married life were spent in Canada homesteading land. They went to Canada in a covered wagon. The following ten years were lived in Waukegan, Illinois. In later years they turned again to farming in Iowa.
Before Coral Jones was married she taught school in Iowa. She was a qualified teacher of elementary and high schools in Arkansas and Iowa. After Mr. Jones passed away, she turned to teaching again and planned to teach this year in the Frankville vicinity, until she was taken ill two weeks ago.
Surviving are her two children, Earl and Coral of Rogers; two sisters Mrs. Nettie Coon of McGregor, and Mrs. Elmer Christofferson of Postville; two brothers, Mr. Lloyd Pearson and Mr. Leonard Pearson both of Postville; six grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
