Milo Jones

Funeral services for Milo Sigmund Jones were held Tuesday, June 20 at the Schultz Funeral Home, Monona, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated. Burial was in Cherry Mound Cemetery, rural Harpers Ferry. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona was in charge of services.

He was born December 7, 1899 on a farm in Linton Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. His parents were Frank and Viola Sutter Jones. He received his education in Minor Ridge Country School in Allamakee County.

On February 27, 1923 he married Myrtle Schellsmidt. The couple had 6 children. Milo was a farmer in the rural Harpers Ferry area all his life. He retired from farming in 1965, remaining on the farm until his death.

He died Saturday, June 17, 1989, at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Myrtle, who died May 6, 1968, a grandson, John Milo; 3 sisters, Ruby Snitker, Jessie Wallace and Claire Jones, and 4 brothers, George, Earl, Leo and Guy.

Surviving are his sons, John, LeRoy and Earl, all of Harpers Ferry, James, Prairie du Chien, WI, Lester, Dubuque and a daughter, Cleone Kelly (Mrs. Gerald), Houston, MN; 30 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Ruth Randall, Akron, OH.

Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren. Active pallbearers were David Jones, Michael Kelly, Dale Jones, Larry Jones, Reginald Jones and Randy Jones.
