Harvey A. Jarms

Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 19, for Harvey Arno Jarms who died at his home in Postville, Wednesday, August 17. The Rev. Norris C. Swenson officiated.

Born May 1, 1910 near Monona, he was the son of Henry and Hattie Engelhardt Jarms. Baptized and confirmed at the Monona Lutheran Church, he was received as a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Postville in 1946 by the Rev. Frederick Ludwig. He served two years as a member of the church council.

November 10, 1934 he was united in marriage to Vera Williams. The couple farmed in the Postville area for 23 years. Moving to Postville, he operated a sand and gravel business for 18 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margarite and Marie, a brother, Harold, and two granddaughters, Hope and Holly Deering.

Survivors include his wife, Vera; three sons, Ronald of Cheney, Washington; Richard, Yakima, Washington and Harvey J. (Chip) of Lone Tree, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Deering, Postville; a sister, Mrs. Giles (Dorothy) Blietz, McGregor; seven grandsons and one granddaughter.

Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
