From the Allamakee Journal, Wed. May 4, 1887, p. 4

"The same morning about 9:30 o'clock, Joseph Hupp, one of the old citizens of this place peacefully breathed his last after a long and lingering illness. He had been a sufferer from asthma for years and for the past 6 weeks was obliged to remain in a sitting posture to enable him to breathe. Mr. Hupp was aged 65 years and came to this city in 1859. His funeral takes place from the Catholic Church tomorrow morning. Deceased is father-in-law of Mr. John Trayer and was an industrious, inoffensive citizen."

Joseph Hupp (22 Feb 1822-3 May 1887) was the father of Rosana Hupp Trayer, Andrew Hupp, Mary Hupp Hecker, Joseph Hupp and Louise Hupp Endres. He is buried at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing, IA.
