Lawrence Byrnes Rites Friday At Catholic Church
Lawrence W. Byrnes died Tuesday evening, March 24, at his home in this city, following a lingering illness.
He was a son of Mrs. Byrnes and the late Larry Byrnes of Hanover township, where he was born Aug. 26, 1912, and was in his '41st year. His life was spent in this vicinity with the exception of his navy service during World II. He was employed as a mechanic at the Valiere Dundee garage until ill health -overtook him.
His marriage to Catherine Ready took place at St. Patrick's church, who with their three young daughters are left. They are Colleen, Rose Marie and Elaine.
Also living are his mother, four sisters and six brothers, namely: Mrs.'Oswald Steinhart, Hanover township; Mrs. Charles Murphy, and Mrs. George Haler, Waukon; Mrs. J. J. Quillen, Chicago; Francis, Garland, Clement, Mark and Victor Byrnes, Hanover, and Patrick, Kenosha, Wis.
The body rests at Bakke-Hanson funeral home until Friday_morning at nine o'clock when servicrs will be held at St. Palrick's church. Fr. E. J. McDonald will officiate, followed by mililary burial. Mr. Byrnes is a mernber of the local VFW and a American Legion organizations.
