Martin Devitt Rites Thursday ;
A mass of requiem was offfered Thursday morning at St. Patrick's church, Waukon at 9 a,m, for Martin Devitt. Burial took place in St. Mary's cemetery at Lycurgus.
The death of Mr. Devitt occurred early Tuesday morning at the McDermott nursing home where he had been cared for the past few years. Martin Deviti was born July 25, 1877, in Allamakee county and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Devitt. His home was made here until he reached manhood when he left here with his brother, the late Patrick Devitt, and made his home on a sheep ranch in Buffalo, South Dakota for many years. He returned to this county about ten years ago. He never married and is survived by two brothers, Michael and Francis Devitt. Preceding him in death besides his parents were three brothers, James, Brian, and Patrick and three sisters, Mrs. John Rafferty, Mrs. Dennis Ronan and Mrs. Joseph A'Hearn. Pallbearers for Mr, Devitt were, James Ronan, Vivian Zoll, Charles Tierney, Patrick Mahoney, Thomas Ward., and Charles Donavan.
