Adeliza Moulthrop was born in Winnebago County, Illinois, July 5, 1844, and died in Greene, Iowa, July 13, 1911, at the age of 67 years and 8 days.

When about eight years of age she removed with her parents to Iowa and settled near Postville where she resided until her marriage to Mr. T. B. Bowman on April 6, 1869.

Immediately after this event she, together with her husband, located on a farm near Victor, in Poweshiek county, where they continued to reside until 1881, when they removed to a farm near Greene, Iowa.

After a residence of twelve years on this place, they went to Postville for a term of six years, and then came to Greene for the remainder of her life.

Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bowman, one daughter and two sons. One son deceased in childhood. The daughter, Mrs. Ida Merriau, and son Frank I. Bowman, and her sorely afflicted husband, all of Greene and one sister, Mrs. W.T. Hayes, of Minnesota, survive to mourn her loss.

Mrs. Bowman became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church during her second residence near Postville and died in that communion.
She was a very kindhearted wife, mother and neighbor, and will be sorely missed by her lonely husband, affectionate children and appreciative neighbors.

She keenly enjoyed the services of God's house and was seldom absent when health permitted her to be in attendance. During the last few years of her life disease fastened upon her and sapped her strength and vitality. In recent weeks her friends had been alarmed over her condition, but her naturally robust constitution seemed to resist successfully these attacks and at times she felt quite hopeful that she would soon be in her accustomed health. She was noticeably hopeful and enthusiastic on Thursday morning just before the sudden onslaught of the last deadly attack. But her weakened condition prevented a lengthy resistance of the struggle and in about twenty-four hours, her spirit took its flight.

The funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church on Saturday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. L. L. Lockard. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
