Joyce M. Kerr

Funeral services for Joyce M. Kerr were held Monday, Aug. 18, 10:30 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Joyce Mae Kerr, daughter of Harry N. and Mae (Mill) Turner, was born Nov. 2, 1904 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County. She died Aug. 14, 1986 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.

She attended the local rural schools and graduated from Monona High School. On Oct. 20, 1926 she married Kenneth Kerr at Postville. They had 6 children.

They lived on the family farm in Fayette County, which had been homesteaded by Kenneth's family since 1851. She had been a 4-H leader for over 30 years, was a 50 year charter member of the Henderson Prairie Study Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. After the death of her husband, she was employed as a housemother at Grandview College and the University of Iowa.

She is preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1961, a grandson, LeRoy Ayers, a great grandson, Lee Albert Anderson, 1 brother, Harold Turner and a sister, Ruth Turner.

Surviving are two sons, C. Keith Kerr and his wife, Verta, Donald and his wife, Norma, all of Postville, 4 daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Gilbert Livingood), Postville, Marjorie (Mrs. Ed Hamme), Riegelwood, NC, Geraldine (Mrs. Willard Meyerhoff), Waterloo and Peggy (Mrs. John Hart), Newbury Park, CA, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Boyd and Dale Turner, both of Postville, and a sister, Lois (Mrs. Ewald Brandt) of Postville.

Casket bearers were Larry Livingood, Francis Livingood, Wayne Livingood, Kelly Livingood, Marvin Wilson, Daryl Anderson, Richard Berns, Scott Kerr, K. J. Kerr, Gilbert Ayers, David Kerr and Paul D'Allura.
