Friends here were shocked on Saturday night to receive word that Mrs. M. H. Goede had passed away at her home in Waukon, at 10:30 that night. Mrs. Goede has been ill since about Thanksgiving time, last fall, and instead of improving as her family and friends sincerely hoped she would, she gradually became weaker and a serious heart ailment set in. A week ago Gordon Goede, who is employed in the Recorder office here, was called home because of her condition. She rallied again and Gordon returned to his work on Thursday He returned to Waukon Sunday morning, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Mahnke.

Edna Mabel Hansen was born December 31, 1894, at Minneapolis, Minn., and died at her home in Waukon May 2, 1936, at the age of 41 years, four months and one day.

She was united in marriage with M. H. Goede, September 10, 1914 at Marshalltown. The union was blessed with five children, four sons and one daughter: Donald, Gordon, Darrell, Alta and Chilton.

About five years of their wedded life was spent here in Greene, where Mr. Goede was science teacher and coach in Greene High School. They lived here from 1916 to 1918 and 1920 to 1923. It was under the guidance of Rev. C. H. Rembold that Mrs. Goede united with St. Peter's Lutheran church at Greene. Waukon has been their home for about five years.

Surviving, besides her devoted I husband and children, are her mother, Mrs. D. W. Pulver and two sisters, Mrs. Victor Bagley and Mrs. Leslie Cramer, all of Pasadena, California, and a host of friends who regret her passing.

A brief prayer service was hold at Martin's chapel at Waukon on Monday morning at 9 o'clock, and the body was then taken to Jackson, Minn., for burial. The service there was held in the Presbyterian Church Tuesday afternoon.
