Postville, Ia., Nov. 25 - Sunday afternoon, Miss Dorothy Jacobs, 64 years old, was laid at rest at the Postville cemetery. Her body had arrived Saturday from Sioux Falls, S.D., where she died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Kathryn Johnson, Thursday, Nov. 20, after a short illness. Funeral ceremonies were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church, where Rev. R.B. Gaten officiated.
Miss Dorothy Jacobs was born in Hanover, Germany, Feb. 27, 1866, as a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Jacobs. When a young girl she came with her parents to Wisconsin, and in 1880 the family moved to Postville. The deceased was well known to the traveling public years ago, being a faithful servant at the Postville Commercial hotel for about 20 years, working as a table waitress.
She spent about 50 years of her life in Postville, and only two months ago, Sept. 1, she sold her home and moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. to spend the rest of her life with her sisters, brother and other relatives.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Wehling and Mrs. Katherine Johnson, and one one brother, Henry Jacobs, all of Sioux Falls.
