Fort Atkinson- The Rev. Anton Peter Lea, 81, whose daughter, Mrs. Hjalmar B. Olson, taught vocal music here for several years, died in her home Sept. 10 in Waukon.
The son of Peter and Grethe Lie, he was born March 28, 1869, in Kongsberg, Norway, and came to this country in 1889. He studied at the Augsburg seminary in Minneapolis, being ordained in 1897.
The Rev. Mr. Lea served pastorates in Chicago, Colfax, Big Elk Creek, Big Drywood, Bateman, Cornell, Elk Mound and Lake Hallie during his 23 years in Chippewa Falls. In 1921 he accepted a call to Waterville, Ia., and he served there until retiring in 1941. He was married in 1901 to Emilie Melbye of Black River Falls.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Olson, at home, Antoinette of Milwaukee, Mrs. Charles Ladd, Crown Point, Ind., Mrs. Alvin Aldrich, Lansing, Mich., and Mrs. Hubert Schroeder, Superior, Wis.; three sons, Abraham of Sacramento, Calif., Albert of Sanborn, Minn., and Ambrose at home; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter, Florence.
