William Marti, well known resident of Kasson, Minn., passed away at his home on Monday evening, Sept 18, 1939, at fifteen minutes after six, at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 26 days. The deceased had been in failing health for about two months. It had been known for several weeks that he could not recover, but the end was not expected to come so soon. Retaining consciousness until about two hours before his passing, death came in quietness and peace.

William F. Marti was born on May 23, 1871, at Lansing, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. On Sept. 11, 1907, he was united in marriage to Hattie Dee in the town where he was born. They immediatedly settled south of Kasson on the farm where the deceased died. Two boys came to bless the Marti home. Mrs. Marti passed away March 26, 1935.

Mr. Marti was a quiet, earnest man, kind to all he met. He was active in the work of the local Methodist church. Not the demonstrative type, his life was eloquent in good deeds.

The deceased leaves to mourn his passing his step-mother, Mrs. Sarah Marti, , of Waukon, Iowa; his two sons Clinton and Ervin, and two grandchildren, of Kasson; two brothers, Henry of Waukon, Iowa, and George of Lansing, Iowa; two half-brothers, Phillip of Waukon, and Jake of Mason City, Iowa; and one half-sister, Mrs. Alfred Petrehn of Austin, Minn., besides a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the home and at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept.2, at the Kasson Methodist church, and later the same day at the Calvary Evangelical church in Lansing, Iowa. The body of the deceased was placed at rest beside that of his wife in the Oak Hill cemetey at Lansing. The Rev. Gilbert Rogers of Kasson officiated at both services.

Among those from out of town who attended the services in Kasson were Mr. and Mrs. Jake Marti, of Mason City, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Petrehn of Austin, Minn.
