Waukon- Funeral services for Mrs. Frank H. Klees, 77, were held Wednesday in the Waukon Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.
As Gem White, Mrs. Klees was born on a farm near Waukon April 4, 1873. She taught rural school and was assistant in the Waukon post office before her marriage to Frank Klees on Oct. 10, 1902. She had lived in Waukon ever since. Klees was executive vice-president of the Waukon State bank at the time of his death in 1944.
Mrs. Klees was an active worker in the Presbyterian church and served as superintendent of the secondary department of the Sunday School for 45 years. A generous woman, Mrs. Klees was interested in youth work, and it was through her assistance that several local young people were able to go to college.
The Klees had no children and Mrs. Klees was the last surviving member of her family.
