…On Wednesday night (Jan 8, 1913), what had appeared inevitable for some time past became a sorrowful reality, and the soul of Nora was severed from all earthly moorings and transferred on wings of love to the realms above, there to receive His blessing and cheering consolation: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Her passing away was like the passing away of last summer’s flowers—just a mere drooping of life’s phenomena, and a fading into that quiet and blissful sleep from whence there is no awakening.

Born and reared in Makee township, she had always made Allamakee county her home, having been born on the old homestead on Jan 1, 1891, being at the time of her demise twenty-two years and one week of age. Nora was one of six children, three of whom proceeded her to the throne of the Great Tribunal, they being Julius, who died at the age of fifteen, Clarence, at the age of nine and one who died infancy.

The remaining children are Millie, now Mrs. F.T. Bulman and little Ruth(Mrs. Orrin H Grangaard). (Parents: John G. and Carrie Christensen Johnson).

Nora graduated with the class of ’09 from the Waukon High School and since her graduation she had remained at home with the exception of teaching two terms of school in the New Galena district and one in the Northwest. Her success at this latter capacity is only another laurel in her wreath, replete with a cheerfulness and willingness manifested by love and the high esteem in which she was regarded by the pupils.

Just previous to her demise she had accepted a position as teacher near Mason City and her plans had been to depart thither on last Friday.
