Ada McKee 1918-2003

Ada McKee, age 85, of Lansing, died Sunday, September 21, 2003, at Northgate Manor in Waukon. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 24 at United Methodist Church in Lansing with Rev. Keith Putney officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Ada was born May 2, 1918, in Cumberland, Wis., to Enton and Carrie (Anderson) Ballmer. She married Ernest McKee December 23, 1937, at New Albin. He preceded her in death July 12, 1992. Ada was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Lansing, where she taught Sunday School, attended Adult Bible Study groups, and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Organization. As a homemaker, Ada especially enjoyed gardening and canning. Ada was a very family- and church-oriented lady and will be dearly missed by many family and friends. Survivors include three children, Elaine (Ron) Hohnecker of Dubuque, Cletus (friend Tamatha McLaughlin) McKee of Las Vegas, Nev., and Janice (Tom) Kinley of Harpers Ferry; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Mackrill of Cumberland. Ada was preceded in death by her husband and three siblings, Bertha Sheckel, Dalia Riebe, and Bernard Ballmer. Casketbearers were Steve McKee, Tim Cole, Shane Kinley, Monte McKee, Wesley Kinley, and Dalton Kinley. Honorary casketbearers were Kim Vyverberg, Robin Adams, and Mike McKee.
