Jean L. Beier, age 79, of Waterloo, Iowa died Monday, October 20, 2014 at Northcrest Specialty Care. She was born August 21, 1935 in Waukon, Iowa, daughter of Roy and Erna (Hansmeier) Nelson. Jean graduated from the Waterville High School in Waterville, Iowa in 1953. She married Clarence H. Beier on November 11, 1956 at Trinity American Lutheran Church in Waterloo. She was employed at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Later she worked and retired from Parkview Garden Care Center after 31 years of service as the dietary supervisor.

Jean is survived by her husband, Clarence; a daughter Rochelle (Greg) Kemmet of Pueblo West, Colorado; a son Rick (Joan) Beier of Newton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Andrew, Leah, and Rachel
Beier and Alison and Austin Kemmet; a sister Joyce Ruisch of Leawood, Kansas, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jim Nelson and a sister Joan Hansen.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 24 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimbal Chapel and an hour before services on Saturday. Services will be on Saturday, October 25 at 10 p.m. at the Ascension Lutheran Church with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.
