DIED.
GREENLEAF—At her home in this city, on Wednesday evening, May 16, 1888, of nervous prostration, Adelia, wife of Geo. D. Greenleaf; aged about 45 years.
Mrs. Greenleaf had been ill about two weeks, having been taken down while visiting friends in Dubuque. She was brought home however, and all that medical skill could do was done in the hopes of saving her life, and it was thought for a time that she might recover; but her nervous system and her vital forces were so exhausted that death must surely ensue sooner or later. The funeral took place last Friday forenoon from the Catholic church, and was largely attended by her friends of all denominations.
Mrs. Greenleaf was born in Ontario Canada; her maiden name being Adelia Donahugh. About 20 year ago she become{sic} a resident of McGregor and five years later was married to Mr. Greenleaf, who survives her. She also leaves three brothers, John and James, of Cresco, who were present at her death, the other brother residing in Mexico when last heard from. She was a devout and consistent member of the Catholic church and was zealous and active in her church work, possessing those good qualities of heart and hand that won warm and lasting friends among all who knew her. She will long be missed and her memory ever be cherished by those among whom she mingled. A large delegation of the members of the G. A. R. Post escorted the remains from the residence to the church and remained during the solemn and impressive ceremonies of requiem mass.—Waukon Democrat.
