Died at Johnson's Creek, Niagra Co., N.Y., on the 19th ult. Robert Montgomery, aged 80 years. Mr. Montgomery was an old resident of this county, having lived in Hardin and vicinity for about twenty-five years.
On the 14 of November his wife died very sudden with a stroke of paralysis, leaving him alone. He left Postville on the 2d ult. for the above named place, to live with his son, who had come for him. He endured the journey well, and was as well as usual for a few days, expressed himself as contented and said he had long wanted to see them all (his son's family he had never seen) and he thanked God that he had been spared to meet with them.
A soon as the excitement was over he sank and died without a struggle, and was buried beside his wife. Uncle Robert, for by such he was known, was known by all the old residents and many of the young for miles around, all who knew him respected him, and he died as few men do, without an enemy and with many friends.

~Note: his wife, Prisilla (Mar 27, 1813-Nov 14, 1874) is buried in the Hardin cemetery. If the obit is correct, he is also buried there - but does not appear on the 'Woodmansee' burial list for Hardin cemetery.
