SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR ALFRED BURROUGHS

Waukon businessman Alfred A. Burroughs died Friday, Jan. 21 at Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI. He was 74.

He was born Jan. 7, 1909 in Allamakee county, the son of David and Mary Moeller Burroughs. He was a welder and owner of a machinery repair shop. He was married to the former Shirley Hagemeier April 7, 1937 in Waukon. He had attended local Dorchester schools and was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Waukon.

His wife survives as do two sons, Jim and Ernie, both of Waukon; three grandchildren, and brothers and sisters: Mrs. (Mary) Helgeson of Decorah, Jerome Burroughs of Dubuque, Garland Burroughs of Lansing, Florence Radloff of East Dubuque, IL, Delbert Burroughs of Bloomington, IL, Mrs. Gerald (Della) Just of Clarkfield, MN, Roland Burroughs of Waukon and Mrs. James (Anna Mae) Waters of Caledonia, MN. He was preceded in death by a brother Richard.

Funeral services were held at First Presbyterian church Monday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Richard King officiated and burial was in Oakland cemetery. Pallbearers were John Boardman, Lynn Winters, Karl Mosier, Dave Duncklee, Dale Reeder and Kenneth Brooks. Handling arrangements was Martin’s Funeral Home.
