Terry Mooney
Terry E. Mooney, 54, of Waukon died Monday, August 26, 2013 at his home in rural Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 31 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Jim Dubert officiating. Burial was at Wexford Cemetery, rural Lansing. Martin Funeral Home, Waukon, assisted with arrangements.
Terrance Eugene Mooney was born September 5, 1958 in La Crosse, WI, the son of Vincent and Rosemary (O'Brien) Mooney. He graduated from Kee High School in Lansing in 1976. Terry's family, including two of his uncles and an aunt, owned and operated a beef farm raising Hereford cattle. In 1976, he married Doris Remke and they had a son, Brian, and a daughter, Beth. They later divorced.
Terry worked at True Value in Waukon for a few years and then was self-employed working on milk lines for dairy farmers. He also worked at the creamery in Waukon as a machine maintenance technician and as a welder for Gencor in Marquette, where he built and set up asphalt plants.
At the time of Terry's death he was working for Gary's Tractor and Implement as the parts manager. In 1999, he married Julie Mara at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. They had three children, Cory, Emily and Jayde, and he had one step-son, Kyle Mara. Terry enjoyed raising and riding horses, helping others, golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Julie of Waukon; his children, Brian (Jennifer) Mooney of Amana, Beth (Jeff Kreger) Mooney of Iowa City, and Kyle (Ashley) Mara and Cory, Emily and Jayde Mooney all of Waukon; seven grandchildren, Bailey, Kendall and Izzy Mooney, Claire Kreger, and Jayden, Brad and Riley Mara; two brothers, Tim (Julee Seeley) Mooney and Pat (Chris) Mooney, both of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Maureen (Dave) Hoch of San Diego, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Honorary casketbearers were Terry's grandchildren. Casketbearers were Ryan Mooney, Dexter, Daric, Daryl, Detrick and Dusty Steiber, and Burdell Roderick.
