Obituary for Pearl Elizabeth Warren from Lansing Newspaper May 1928

A Fair Young Life Goes Out

Pearl Elizabeth Warren was born in Edgerton, Rock county, Wisconsin, on October 5th, 1907, to Thomas and Mary Warren, now of Lansing, Iowa.

During her twenty years of sojourn here on earth she diligently applied herself to preparing for life's career. She loved the Sunday School, attending mostly at the Federated Church. The public school found her always an interested and apt pupil until her graduation fro the Lansing High School in the spring of 1925.

She felt that the Lord had called her to a nurse and thereupon entered training at Grandview Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis., in October of the same year. However, ill health forced her to lay her ambition aside, and await the return of her strength. But a weak heart finally claimed her body during the first hour of Friday morning, May 4, 1928.

She leaves to mourn besides her parents, five sisters--Mrs. Daniel Shafer, Arthur, N.D., Mrs. Fred Thornton, Postville, Iowa, Mrs. H.J. Moe, Misses Helen and Catherine Warren, all of Lansing, her brother, Thomas A., also of Lansing, besides many friends who loved and cherished her.

To know Betty was to be her friend. She had a deep love for her fellowmen and aspired to serve them as best she could, never shirking responsibility where duty called. her friends and elders speak of her as a good girl, who diligently and earnestly strove to make the most of herself and the greatest possible use of her time. Love, kindness and mercy followed in her wake, and those who knew her best will long remember the message of sweetness which she tried to live. Her life was young and fair, full of aspirations of the good she was to do, and full of pleasant dreams and hope.

The funeral took place from the Federated Church in this city Monday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, Rev. Meyer officiating and interment in beautiful Oak Hill cemetery.
