MRS. KATIE BECHTEL BURIED ON MONDAY

Was lifelong resident of Allamakee County

Lansing--- Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Bechtel, 93, who was found dead in her home Friday evening by her son, Tade, were held Monday afternoon at the German Presbyterian church, the Rev. Z.M. Bressler officiating. Burial was in the Lansing Ridge cemetery.

During the church service, favorite hymns were sung by Ada Bauman and Lorna Cavers. Casket bearers were Tade Wendel, Sam Decker, Fremont Bauman, George Schellhammer, John Thompson and Freeman Bechtel.

John Burke was funeral director and the body rested at the home until funeral time.

Mrs. Bechtel had been in her usual health and had been about the house during the day in her normal routine. The coroner was called and he attributed death to natural causes.

As Katie Roth, she was born in Allamakee county, November 17, 1855. She spent her entire life in and near Lansing. On November 4, 1886 she was married to Isaac Bechtel. They lived at Church, where he was a veterinarian, until his death, February 4, 1921. Mrs. Bechtel was a member of the Congregational church and Ladies Aid at Church, but after coming to Lansing was an attendant at the German Presbyterian church.

Surviving are an only son, Theodore, two grandchildren of Lansing, a sister, Mrs. Henry Marti of Decorah, a brother, Herman Roth of Waukon and a number of nieces and nephews of three generations. Preceding her in death were her husband, two sisters and a brother.
