Obituary of Mrs. Albert Winter Mar 18, 1931 Waukon Democrat newspaper

Mrs. Albert Winter Died At Son's Home In Nebr.

It was with sorrow that the many friends of Mrs. Albert Winter learned of her death which occurred Monday, March 15 at 8:30 p.m. at the home of her son Earl at Cozad, Neb. She had been a sufferer from diabetes for a number of years but bore her affliction with Christian fortitude and patiently waited the consummation of God's will of her life. All that kind and loving hands could do was done for her by her children in the closing years of her life and they tenderly cared for her to the last.

Deceased was born June 25, 1862 on a farm east of Waukon. Later her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pieper, moved to a farm in Ludlow township, where the family of children grew to young man and womanhood. She attended the rural schools and on Feb. 22, 1882, became the wife of Albert Winter. They settled down to home life on a farm two miles southwest of Waukon where they resided until 1920, when they purchased a home and moved to Waukon.

They were the parents of five children, namely: Carl S. and Earl A. of Cozad, Neb; Fred B., Grand Island, Neb.; Mrs. Helen Smith, Lexington, Neb., and Mrs. Marian Foley, Elmhurst, Ill. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Fred Snitker, Waukon; Mrs. Henry Fisher, Oxnard, Calif., and August Pieper, Iowa City.

Mrs. Winter was a kind and loving wife, mother, neighbor and friend, who made her home the center of her activities. Her passing brings deep sorrow to her dear ones, to whom the sincere sympathy of all is extended.

The remains arrive here this afternoon and will be taken to the old home, now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hilton, where it will be possible for her friends to pay their last respects to one whom they admired in life. Mrs. Winter was an esteemed member of the Royal Neighbor and Pythian Sisters. Funeral services will be held at Zion Reformed church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Stucki, assisted by Rev. Karl Ernst of Plymouth, Wis, who was a former pastor here and a close friend of Mr. and Mrs. Winter. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery beside her husband who passed away May 27, 1928.

Among those from a distance here to attend the services are Mrs. Augusta Anderson, St. Paul; A. S. Pieper and family, Iowa City; A.E.Winter, Chicago, and H.C. Winter, Madison, Wis.
