I.A. Harman was born in Morgan Co. Ohio, February 5, 1840, and died at his home in Morgan County, February 3, 1914; lacking but two days of being 74 years of age. In 1866 he was married to Lydia Shepherd of Morgan Co., and lived the first year of his married life at this place. In 1867 he moved to Clinton co., Iowa, residing there for a period of two years, then came to Postville, Iowa, which was his home for over thirty years. Into this home four children were born, three of whom, with their mother, died during the year 1877. The one surviving being Mrs. Effie Hanchett of Hawkeye, Iowa. He was then married to Martha Ady of Morgan Co., Ohio, and to this union there were born three children -- Charles M. of Lavina, Montana; John J. of Valley Falls, Kansas, and Mrs. Gertrude Snodgrass of La Crosse, Wis. In 1901 Mr. Harman left Iowa and returned to his early Ohio home, where in 1904 he was united in marriage with Emma Patterson of that place who with four children survive. All were present at the funeral except Charles. He also leaves eight grandchildren and two sisters. Rev. Holden of the McConnelsville M.E. church delivered the funeral sermon and the remains were interred in the McKendree cemetery. The pall bearers were his son John, soninlaw S.W. Hanchett, and nephews Ed Harman, Glenn Still, Wilbur Still and St. Clair Harper.
