Iowa Plain Dealer October 17, 1879, P3 C2

SUDDEN DEATH.—Our people were startled on Wednesday morning by the news that Frank P. Johnston was found dead in his room in the basement of the Commercial Hotel. He has been a sufferer from asthma for some years, and was quite feeble, though he was not considered in immediate danger. His death was caused by Asthmatic Bronchitis. He was 47 years of age, and leaves a wife and several children in Louisville, Ky., whither his remains were taken on Thursday. Peace to his ashes.—Postville Review.

Frank was a brother of Ed and John Johnston, formerly proprietors of the “City Bakery Restaurant,” and was well known and liked by most of our citizens, for his courteous and gentlemanly bearing with all whom he came in contact with.

He came North some two or more years ago for his health, but, like many others, failed to return to his Southern home only in the embrace of death. None know him but to respect him.
