Waukon, Ia. - Funeral services were held here Wednesday afternoon at the Pleumer and Hanson Funeral Home for George J. Carter, 52, local pharmacist, with the Rev. August Grossheim, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Dr. L.L. Shurtleff, Dr. James S. Cameron, Harry Nesheim, C.H. Megorden, L.C. Hardon and Herman Peterson.
Mr. Carter died Monday at his home following a long illness.
He was born here May 12, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Carter. He was graduated from Waukon High School and later he attended Highland Park College in Des Moines. In 1915 he and the late Leonard Herman purchased the Rexall Drug Store here, which he since operated.
He was married May 11, 1915 to Florence Orr, who survives with three children: Mrs. Daniel Brawner, RN, of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Paul Lloyd, RN, of San Francisco, both of whom are in the service, and John at home; and one sister, Lydia Carter of Waukon.
Mr. Carter was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
