HARMS, Rose 1879-1945

Miss Rose Harms, of New Albin, was found dead in bed at her home in that city around noon time yesterday by callers. She lived alone there, and the county coroner pronounced death as a result of natural causes. She is aged about 65 and is survived by two brothers and a number of nieces and nephews. Her sister Mary passed away only last April 13th. The remains were brought to the Bakke and Hanson funeral parlors in Waukon and funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Rose Harms, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Koenig) Harms was born on February 17, 1879 in the Township of Winnebago, Houston County, Minn. She was baptized in the Immanuel Church of Eitzen, Minn., on April 22, 1879 by the Rev. Titze. She received the Rite of Confirmation in the St. John's Church of Eitzen April 26, 1891 by the Rev. Niedergesaess. Miss Harms spent her childhood and youth near Eitzen. Later on she moved to Chicago, Ill., and was employed in that city and also in Elmhurst, Ill. When she returned from Chicago she made her home in New Albin and for the last year she was an employee of the Toywood factory in Lansing.

She had been ailing lately and died suddenly on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 25 days. Her parents and four sisters preceded her in death.

Surviving are two brothers, Otto of Eitzen, and Henry of Caledonia, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. August Bisping of Menasha, Wis., and Mrs. Walter Young of Perth, N.D., 9 nephews and 5 nieces.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church with the Rev. P.H. Franzmeier, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in St. Luke's Cemetery, Eitzen, Minn. Casket bearers were six nephews of deceased, Carl Fruechte, Louis Fruechte, Fremont Krause, Herman and Walter Burmester.
