THOMAS F. KERNAN

Thomas F. Kernan passed away Saturday morning, April 4, 1959, at the Buffalo Hospital, Buffalo, Minn., after a short illness. He was born in Lafayette Twp., Allamakee County, on May 26, 1872, a son of Patrick Kernan and Bridget Mooney. He attended rural school here than went to Cerro Gordo County, Iowa where he met and married Caroline Smith. He and his bride later returned to Taylor Twp. where his four children were born. His wife, a son and a daughter preceded him in death. He is survived by a brother, Joseph Kernan of Allamakee County, and two daughters, Mrs. Adrian Hogan, Minneapolis; and Mrs. Alfred Tyler, Anoka, Minn. He was a member of the K.C. and C.O.F., having joined the latter over 50 years ago.

Mr. Kernan had recently been living with his daughter, Mrs. Hogan, and was a member of the Ascension parish in Minneapolis. Father Coates, parish pastor,led the Rosary held at visitation at the Gleason Mortuary in Minneapolis. The body was then taken to the Burke Mortuary in Lansing where a visitation was held Monday evening. Burial was at Wexford on Tuesday morning. The pallbearers were James Delaney, Joseph Delaney, Chester Farley and Ronald Langua.

Among the out of town relatives and friends who attended the wake and funeral services were the following: Harold Longua and son of Madison, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Graepler, Dows, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ostendorf and two daughters, Goodell, Ia.; Mr. Dale Smith, Thornton, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Art Steubs, Chester, Ia.; Mr.s. J.J. Hogan, Miss Mary Hogan, and Mrs. Art Perry, all of Mineapolis; George Tyley and Mrs. Richard Sorteberg of Anoka, ...
