Postville Herald, Thursday, 2 March 1922. (condensed).

Wells Wentworth Eaton, son of Wells and Mary Eaton, was born in Greene Co., Wisconsin, April 8, 1853, coming with his parents when three months of age to the farm now owned by Geo. Waters, near Postville. Iowa, where he grew to manhood, attending the public schools and later at Waukon.

At 18 years of age he began teaching school and followed this profession for a number of years.

He was married to Miss Ella E. Hall of Postville, Iowa, May 12th, 1875. To this union were born four children- Clow W. of Portland, Oregon; Myrta M., who preceded her father in death in 1899; Harvey H. of San Diego, Calif.; and Flossie F. of Boone, Iowa, who has been her father's efficient bookkeeper since he became associated with the Farmers Elevator Co. at Boone, and who succeeds her father as manager.

In 1875 he settled on a farm in Guthrie county, near Yale, and farmed for 16 years. He then moved to Panora, Iowa, and entered the grain business there until 1815 (1915 ?), when he resigned and came to Boone as manager of the elevator there, and has made a reputation for honesty and efficiency that is known throughout the state. He has developed probably the largest elevator business in Iowa.

Mr. Eaton had not been well for more than two years. Last September he, with his wife, came to visit his sisters at Postville, telling his wife he wanted to make one more visit to them and his old home surroundings. He had stayed at his work so closely and never complained that close associates did not realize he was in danger.

On February 13, 1922, he passed away at the age of 68 years, 10 months and five days. He leaves beside his family two brothers, G. E. Eaton of Long Beach, Calif., and F. L. Eaton of Whittier, Calif., and four sisters, Mrs. N. Howe of Surprise, Neb.; Mrs. H. S. Harris of Puente (looks like), Calif.; Mrs. J. S. Dresser and Mrs. Geo. Waters of Postville, Iowa; and two granddaughters at Portland, Oregon; besides a large circle of relatives and friends.

In 1892 he united with the Methodist church at Panora and was transferred to the First Methodist church at Boone when he took up his residence there.

The funeral services were held Thursday morning at the residence, No. 1315 Marshall St., Boone, and were in charge of Rev. F. F. Travis. The remains were taken to Panora, and interment was made in Brethren cemetery beside his daughter Myrta. A nephew, C. E. Waters and wife of Postville were among those who attended.
