Rachel Ruckdaschel

Rachel Marcella Ruckdaschel, 78, of Waukon died Monday, July 17, 1995 at Veterans Memorial Hospital.

A lifetime northeast Iowa resident, she was born Sept. 15,1917 in Waukon to Joseph and Julia (Colsch) Henry. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1935.

In August 1940 she married Merle Dean “Rucky” Ruckdaschel at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Surviving are four daughters, Julaine and husband George Hartley of Platteville, Wi, Carol Price of Waukon, Ruth and husband Reed Isom of St. George, Ut, Mary Lou and husband Lyle Baer Jr. Of Marshalltown; a son Rueben of St. George; a sister, Joan (Mrs. Delmar) Woodley of Milford; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died Jan. 31; an infant son Ronald; a sister Eva, and two brothers, Reuben and one in infancy.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22 at Martin Funeral Home. The Rev. Lynn Groe officiated. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Casket bearers were George Hartley Jr., Matt Price, Michael Hartley, Melanie Giannetto, Eric Ruskdaschel, Cynthia Steil, Tricia Hartley, Michelle Estaban, Melissa Lana, Heather, Rebecca and Holly Baer, and Devon and Derick Ruckdaschel.

Funeral services for Rachel Marcella Ruckdaschel were held Saturday, July 22, 1995 at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, Iowa. The Reverend Lynn G. Groe officiated. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery.

Rachel Ruckdaschel, daughter of Joseph Leo Henry and Julia Ann Colsch, was born September 15, 1917 at Waukon, Iowa. She died July 17, 1995 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. She was 78 years old.

Rachel graduated from Waukon High School in 1935. In August 1940, she was married to Merle Dean "Rucky" Ruckdaschel at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union, six children, Julaine, Carol, Ruth, Mary Lou, Ronald and Rueben, were born.

Rachel enjoyed sewing, reading and spending time with her family. Although she worked most of her life as a homemaker, she did do some part time work outside the home earlier.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her infant son Ronald, her sister Eva Lou, a brother Reuben and an infant brother.

Surviving is her daughter Julaine Hartley and her husband, George, of Platteville, Wisconsin, her daughter Carol Price of Waukon, Iowa, her daughter Ruth Isom and her husband, Reed, of St. George, Utah, her daughter Mary Lou Baer and her husband, Lyle, of Marshalltown, Iowa, her son Rueben Ruckdaschel of St. George, Utah, her sister Joan Woodley and her husband, Delmar, of Milford, Iowa, and 14 grandchildren and 4 great-granddaughters.
