Mr. Andrew Leppert was born in French Creek township, Allamakee County, Iowa, September 19, 1958, and passed to his desired eternal home at 2:30 P.M. June 11, 1927, at the home of his son Ralph, near Forrest Mills, Iowa.

He spent practically all his life on his farm, going to his son for just a short time and then, when health improved, to go back to his home and continue his work. During the last year he was troubled with inflammatory rheumatism, which, with other complications, caused his death. He was a well liked citizen and during his time made many friends. His motive was to help others, which he did in manys ways.

Mr. Leppert joined the Methodist Episcopal Church at Mays Prairie in 1875. In December, 1888, he transferred to the Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church and when the language question became settled, he transferred back again in August, 1916. He was a faithful member of both churches, serving them in various capacities.

Prior to his very last illness he was more inpatient but during the last week he would often say, "I am going home to a better land." Death seemed to him as just a step and he would often speak of Jesus as "a very good shepherd who cares for his own, and he is coming to receive me soon."

"Call not back the dear departed,
Anchored safe where storms are o'er,
On the border land we left him,
Soon to meet and part no more.
When we leave this world changes,
When we leave this world of care,
We shall find our missing loved one
In our Father's Mansion fair."

Mr. Leppert was united in marriage to Sarah Bulman on Dec. 28, 1887. This union was blessed with ten children, Lydia preceeding him in death on May 19, 1926.

He leaves to mourn, his bereaved wife, nine children as follows; Jesse A., Dewey G., Cora A., Willard A., and Gilbert T., all of Church, Iowa; James H., of Dorchester, Iowa; Ralph H., and Mrs. (Emma A.) A. J. Oelberg, of Forest Mills, Iowa; Oscar S., of Berlin, N.D.; also six grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Ebner and Mrs. Jacob Hirth of Church, Iowa, four half brothers and one half sister, with many other relatives and friends.

Internment was made in the Mays Prairie cemetery, Rev. Arthur C. Prust officiating and assisted by Rev. G. H. Kohler of Dubuque, Iowa.
