Marie Adeline Smith

Marie Adeline Smith, daughter of William and Nellie (Fish) Roffman, was born February 11, 1917 in Allamakee County, IA. She received her education at Franklin School #11 in Allamakee County.

Marie was united in marriage to Carl Robert Smith on April 14, 1936 at Waukon by Rev. Van Nice. To this union one son, Robert, was born. Marie's hobbies included crocheting afghans, dolls and going to Maggie's Diner for lunch.

Marie died Thursday, September 21, 2000 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, who died April 28, 1979; one brother, Glenn Roffman; and 2 sisters, Florence Ewing and Viola Roffman.

Survivors include one son Robert (Marlys) Smith of Monona, IA; 2 grandchildren and their spouses, David and Anna Mae Smith, and Arthur and Nancy Wagner; 3 great grandchildren, Tyler and Grant Wagner and Ashley Smith; one sister, Eula Thien of Waukon, IA; one brother, Leonard Roffman of Waukon, IA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 25, 2000 at Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona, Iowa, with Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial was at Monona City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jim, Clarence and Steve Haberichter, Ron Evanson, Marvin Mohs and Robert Kiesau.
