Postville Review, Fri., 4 Sept. 1908.

Martha Ady-Harman was born near Malta, Morgan Co., Ohio, October 21, 1854, and after a very brief illness with that dreaded disease, pneumonia, passed away from her earthly home on Aug. 29, 1908, at the age of 53 years, 10 months and 7 days.

Miss Ady grew to womanhood in her Ohio home, at which time she moved to Viroqua, Wis., and after two years was united in marriage to I. A. Harman. They moved immediately to Postville, Iowa, which has ever since been her home. Into this home were born three children - Charles, of Postville, Iowa; John, of Conde, S.D.; and Mrs. Gertrude Snodgrass, of Viroqua, Wis. To mourn with these are two brothers and two sisters - Mrs. A. W. Green, of Viroqua, Wis.; J. S. Ady, of Spencer, Iowa; Mrs. S. L. Williams, Trenton, Mo.; and J. T. Ady, Bowbells, N.D.

Mrs. Harman was converted in early childhood and united her life and its interests with that of the church. From her coming to Postville to the day of her death she was a member of the Methodist church, and for a number of years was president of the Ladies Aid Society. She was also actively associated with the W.C.T.U. and its work and success was of special interest to her.

The funeral service of Mrs. Harman was held from the Methodist church, Tuesday morning, Sept. 1st, and was largely attended, the Royal Neighbors and the W.T.C.U. acting as escort. Her pastor, Rev. C. E. Smith, preached from the text II Cor. 5:1. The numerous floral designs furnished by the various societies showed the esteem in which she was held by the community. She was laid to rest in the Postville cemetery.

The following relatives from abroad were present at the funeral: John J. Harman, Conde, S.D.; James Ady and wife, Spencer, Iowa; Mrs. Ida Wells, Payette, Idaho; Mrs. Mary Green, Alvin Snodgrass and sister, Viroqua, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Williams, Trenton, Mo.
