Mrs. Minnie Gordon, nee Minnie Shortreed, was born in Postville, Iowa, Sept. 21, 1878, and died near Mandan, N.D., Saturday, Aug. 1, 1908, aged 29 years, 11 months and 20 days, death resulting from serious burns received a few weeks previous while starting a fire with kerosene, the can exploding and throwing the burning oil all over her person.

Until eighteen years of age she resided with her parents in this city. She then took a two year's course in shorthand and typewriting at Valder Buisness College, Decorah. August 14, 1900, she was united in marriage to John Gordon of this city, where they resided for four years, afterward residing briefly at Decorah and Calmar, Iowa, and West Superior, Wis. Two years ago they returned to Postville, where they remained until March of this year when they went to Mandan, N.D., and took up a homestead. A husband, father, mother, eight brothers and three sisters are left to mourn her untimely passing. The sympathy of all is with the bereft.
