Obit from the Waukon Newspaper September 1917:

Word comes of the death on the battlefront in France of a youth who was born in 1896 here in Waukon, Donald F. Knight by name, son of Mr and Mrs. Charles Knight, the latter being a sister of James O'Donnell, rural carrier of the Church postoffice. The father was a baker by profession and with his family moved from here to Vancouver, British Columbia. A daily paper from there under date of Sept. 11th, contains the young soldier's picture and an account of his valiant service with the Canadian troops. He went to the front in 1915 and had served over two years ontinuously in France. He was severely wounded in February last but had recovered and heroically returned to the front where he was killed on August 21st, which strange to say, was the same day that Roy Beale fell in action while with the Canadians.

Note: Donald Knight's mother was Mary O'Donnell, son of John & Eunice O'Donnell of French Creek.
