Funeral services for Myron Schultz were held Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville with Allen Hermeier officiating. Burial was in the Postville cemetery. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
Myron Eugene Schultz was born January 23, 1954, in Postville, the second child of Kenneth and Ernestine (Lang) Schultz. Myron passed away at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, on Sunday, January 16, 2005, at the age of 50, after a short battle with cancer, throughout which he managed to keep his sense of humor.
He was baptized March 28, 1954, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, and confirmed there on May 8, 1968. Myron attended Postville Community Schools, participating in track, wrestling, and football, for which he received All-State Honors in 1973.
Following graduation Myron was employed as a shipping and receiving supervisor at Iowa Turkey Products in Postville until 1999. In June of 1999, Myron started a new career as a driver of the "Big Rig" as he often referred to his truck. He was a road tanker driver for David Kirk Inc., which later became Cliff Viessman, Inc. He transported milk and corn syrup.
During his free time, Myron loved to watch his beloved Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes. He also loved spending time with his precious basset hounds, Emma and Minnie.
Myron was also an honorary member of "The Crew", a group of friends who enjoyed playing countless games of (here the paper is tore and I can't make it out) .....poker on the weekends. In the summer months he enjoyed spending time on the Mississippi River, fishing with his friend Bill Evans.
On February 2, 1980, Myron was married to Lynette Johnson at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. To this union 3 children were born, Matthew Kenneth, Annie Rose, and Natalie Lynn. Myron was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Schultz; his grandparents, Elsie and Walter Schultz, a niece, Katina; and his dog, Beatrice.
Surviving is his wife, Lynette; 3 children; his mother, Ernestine Schultz of Castalia; 2 brothers, Kevin (Deb) Schultz of Postville and Tom (Charlynn) Schultz of Castalia; 2 sisters, Susan (Don) Haberkorn and Kathy (Mike) Johnson and his mother and father-in-law, LaVern and Jeanette Johnson, a sister and brother-in-law, JoDee and Bruce Anderson, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, dear lifelong friends and co-workers.
Casketbearers were Terry Szabo, Dean Henning, Steve Schultz, Stanley Schultz, Bill Evans and Gregg Schnuelle.
