Rites Held on Saturday for Oscar Kerndt

Oscar E. Kerndt, 87, of Lansing, died on Wednesday, November 29, in La Crosse Lutheran Hospital, where he had been a patient for several days.

He was born in Lansing, on July 11, 1891, to Gustav and Julia (Troendle) Kerndt. On June 2, 1932, he married Laila Orrben in Lansing.

Prior to his retirement he worked for 25 years as custodian of the Eastern Allamakee Community Schools in Lansing. He was a 50 year member of Evergreen Masonic Lodge #144.

Survivors are his wife; a brother, Walter, of Baraboo, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews. He had been a resident of Thornton Manor for the past several months. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Lansing, the Rev. Herbert C. Hanson officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Arthur, Edwin, Francis and Everett McKee, Charles Kerndt and Lyle Pape. The Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
