Postville Review, Sat., 20 June 1891.

The people of Postville were shocked and horrified to hear that Dr. F. H. Low, our dentist, was found dead by the side of the Milwaukee track, a few rods west of the depot, at an early hour this (Friday) morning. The body lay outside and clear of the track, the wheels having struck his head, cutting it in two. He went to bed at the Commercial last night at the usual time and was not seen to come down stairs by the night clerk, and hence it is probable that it must have been 12:00 M. and 3:00 A.M. that he came down and went out, and that it must have been the 3:32 train that struck him. Why he went out at that time, such a wet, dark night as last night, and why, if he did go out he should have gone up the track beyond the depot is a mystery, unless it was a premeditated suicide. He was a very exemplary, christian young man, but somewhat reticent and cold in his ways, making no acquaintance with but a few. We have not time to wait for a full investigation this morning, which may throw some light on the case. It is a sad and terrible ending of a young life.

Note: A small item in the following weeks paper notes that the body was taken to Waukon for interment and that whether his death was accidental or a suicide will probably never be known.

Submitter is not related.
