Postville Review, Fri., 22 July 1898.

At the residence of her father, in Postville, of consumption, Mrs. Marian Dawson Haines, aged 29 years, 5 months and 3 days.

Manie Dawson, as she was more familiarly called, was born on the farm a mile west of Postville, Feb. 13th, 1868. She united with the Methodist church in 1888 and was married to Frank C. Haines March 8th, 1895. One child was born to them and survives her mother, as does the husband and father. Mrs. Haines' mother preceded her to the beyond several years ago, which makes this new grief harder for the family to bear. Mr. Haines was absent in the west when his wife died, but came on Monday and was present at the funeral on Tuesday. The services were held from the residence and from the Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon, and although the weather was very stormy, a large congregation was present to pay their last respects to the dead wife and mother, and also to those who are left to mourn. The services were conducted by Rev. Barton.

To our neighbors and friends we wish to offer our sincere sympathy in the hour of sadness. May a kind Providence comfort them in their sorrow and be more than a parent to the little one that is left to fight the battles of life without a mother's protecting care. The pitying skies wept at the obsequies and pitying friends do all that can be done to soften the grief of father, sisters and husband, and may the Father of mercies hold the little one in the hollow of His hand.

"Servant of God, well done, the battle fought, the victory won; enter thou into thy rest."
