Burton Floyd Wild, 65, of New Albin, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, following a month long battle with leukemia.
He was born January 18, 1947, to Floyd and Ruby (Muenkel) Wild. Burton graduated from Waukon High School in 1965. After serving in the Army Reserves, Burton married Jean Meyer on May 25, 1975, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia, Minn. He was a lifelong farmer on a third generation family farm. Burton enjoyed working hard on the farm, especially with his family. He would plow snow for endless hours with his tractor and loader. Burton was an avid NASCAR fan and also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers. He had a great sense of humor and had an uncanny knack to come up with clever nicknames for different things and animals.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Wild; two sons, Brian (Lora) of Baraboo, Wis., and Derek (Elizabeth) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two grandchildren, Beau and Zander; one sister, Joyce Schroeder of Caledonia; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Tom; and great-nephew, Ryker Schroeder.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Eitzen, Minn. Rev. Todd Krueger will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and also on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.
Thank you, Dad, for instilling a strong work ethic and a great sense of morals in each of us. Without them, we would not be where we are today. Even though we did not like it, we would go out in that pasture and cut thistles all day long on the hottest summer day, just to have the opportunity to spend one more day with you. You will be greatly missed and forever remembered. We love you.
Grandpa “Napa”, I hope there are tractors in heaven, so one day I can go on rides with you again.
