Postville Review, Fri., 28 Mar. 1902. (condensed).

THOMA-- At her home in Postville, Iowa, Wednesday, March 26, 1902, of paralysis, Mrs. Catherine Thoma, in her fifty-fifth year.

Mrs. Thoma was born Aug. (date blurred), 1847, and was married to Joseph Koevenig Sept. 25, 1866, at Prairie du Chien, Wis. Mr Koevenig died in 1882 and on July 15, 1886, the widow was married to Fred Thoma, who also died several years ago.

She was a resident of this vicinity since the seventies and her passing is the departure of a landmark in Postville. For her friends she could not do to much, and many are those who will recall with pleasure the happy times spent under her hospitable roof, all will learn of the death of their former hostess with sorrow most sincere.

As a wife and mother she was dutiful and kind, as a friend she was true as steel, and with a tear of sorrow we lay her in the silent tomb.

Mrs. Thoma was the mother of a large family, and all but one, Joseph, who died in infancy, were present at the funeral. They are, Mrs. Louisa Moll, Katherine Kluss, Henry and John Koevenig, and Mrs. Caroline Schofield of Postville; Mrs. Victoria Birch, Oelwein; Mrs. Anna E. Stockman, Marshalltown; Mrs. Josephine Becker, Calmar; and a little daughter, Pauline Thoma.

The funeral will be from the Catholic church in Postville March 29, from which the remains will be taken to Ossian, Iowa, for interment.
