Funeral services for Mrs. Francis C. Buren were held Friday, March 17, 2000 at 1 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Gary Catterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Wanda Henrietta (Crandall) Buren, the daughter of John Raymond Crandall and Mertie Donahe Crandall (Koerner), was born October 25, 1909 in Cox Creed Township, Clayton County, near Elkader, Iowa. She passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2000 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. She had reached the age of 90 years, 5 months and 19 days.

She attended Hawthorne Elementary School in Waterloo, Iowa and graduated from high school in Waterloo.

On June 30, 1927, Wanda married Francis C. Buren at Waterloo, Iowa. To this union a son, Francis W., was born. In 1941 the family moved to Yakima, Washington. They moved to Postville in 1971.

Wanda enjoyed sewing, working in the garden and yard, and she was active in the women of the church. She also loved to sing and to swim.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Francis W., who died on October 26, 1991, her son, Francis W., who died on February 28, 1998, and a sister-in-law Gladys Crandall, who died on May 18, 1995.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Vivian Buren of Postville; 4 grandchildren, David Buren of Grinnell, IA, Michael (Lori) Buren of Lynden, WA, Judy (Jeff) Huinker of Postville, IA, and Daniel Buren of West Des Moines, IA; 7 great grandchildren, Jennifer, Julie, Megan and Elizabeth Buren, Nicole, Brandi and Kendal Huinker, and a brother, Frank Crandall of Park Ridge, IL.

Wanda was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville and the Women's Association.

Casket bearers were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
