Ruby Brinker
Ruby C. Brinker, 88, of Eitzen, MN, died Friday., May 4, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Waukon.
Funeral services were held Tues., May 8, at St. Lukes United Church of Christ in Eitzen. The Rev. Thomas Zulke officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home of Caledonia assisted the family.
She was born March 4, 1913, in Union City Township, Allamakee County, to William and Rosina (Kurk) Renk. Ruby was baptized and confirmed at St. John's U.C.C., Wheatland. On Dec. 16, 1931, she married Elmer H. Brinker; he preceded her in death on May 14, 1977. During their life together the couple farmed in Union City Township, Allamakee County, until 1972, at which point they moved to Eitzen.
In addition to farming, Ruby also drove the Iowa students to the Eitzen school in what became known as the "Brinker bus". After they moved to Eitzen, Ruby was employed at the Argus Factory in Spring Grove, MN. She also cooked at the Dorchester school and was employed at Northern Engraving in Lansing, until her retirement in 1978.
Ruby was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Eitzen, where she taught Sunday school for 20 years and was active in the women's fellowship. She also was a member of the Eitzen Villagers Homemakers, the Secret Sisters of Eitzen, and senior citizens activities. Ruby enjoyed quilting and raising house plants.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Elnora (John) Weymiller of Eitzen, and Betty (George) Decker of Waukon; 7 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and 2 brothers.
