Postville Herald, Thur., 9 Feb. 1939.

Mrs. W. E. Durno Passes On At Waterloo Saturday.

Word was received here Saturday evening of the passing on of Mrs. Wm. E. Durno, which occurred suddenly at 5:30 p.m. that day at the home of her niece, Mrs. Blanche Fitzgerald, at whose home she had been visiting while her husband had gone to Orlando, Fla., for a visit to Louis Rasmusen.

The remains were brought here and Mr. Durno notified and he immediately started for Postville, arriving here Monday afternoon, to make arrangements for the funeral services which were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Community Presbyterian church at which the Rev. J. Ian Fraser officiated.

Mrs. Durno was born as Elizabeth Lukenbill, October 4, 1861, in Wisconsin, and came here with her parents at an early age. For the most part her entire lifetime was spent here.

She was married to Mr. William E. Durno on February 9, 1898, the ceremony being performed at Ossian. The couple have made Postville their home continuously since.

Mrs. Durno was an active member of Postville Chapter No. 238, Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, a sister, Mrs. Mary Frantzen of Ossian, who at the present is visiting in Indiana, and a brother, Henry Lukenbill of Roseville, Ohio.
