Ann Cleverly was born in London, England, Oct. 21, 1840, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. C. Deering, in Post township, Allamakee Co., Iowa, Aug. 11, 1914, being at her death aged 73 years, nine months and 21 days. She emigrated to this country at nine years of age, residing in the state of New York until early womanhood, then came west to Iowa, settling near Frankville in Winneshiek Co. She was married to Wm. McClintock, Dec. 27, 1861, he passing away Sept. 6, 1871. To this union five children were born, one dying in infancy and a married daughter died 15 years ago. August 8, 1877, she again married to John Uhl, who passed away nine years ago. To them four children were born, one dying in infancy and the late Mrs. Stella Cook preceded her three months ago, thus (word missing) five children, 12 grandchildren ( word/number missing) great-grandchildren, an aged brother and sister to mourn her loss. The funeral was held from the Evergreen school house on Thursday, August 18th, conducted by Rev. A. E. Hursh of Castalia. Interment in Carithers cemetery.
