Eliza Gilbertson Olson was born near Christiana, Norway, July 3, 1837, and died near Postville, Iowa, Nov. 21, 1915, aged 78 years, 3 months and 28 days.

She was united in marriage to Julius Olson March 7, 1866. In 1868 they came to America, settling in Madison, Wisconsin, July 2nd of that year. In 1869 they came to Postville, locating in Post township, Allamakee Co., where they have resided almost continously since. She leaves behind an aged husband and five children - Ole at home, Martin living on the old farm near Postville, Mrs. McMaster at West Union, Mrs. Huey at Waukon and Julia at home; two brothers - one in Norway and one in Wisconsin, and two sisters - one in Clermont township and one in Franklin Township.

She was a good wife and loving mother, a christian from childhood.

She was stricken with paralysis six years ago last May, since which time she has been entirely helpless.

Funeral services were held from the Postville Methodist church, Tuesday, Nov. 23, conducted by Rev. P. M. Phillips. Interment in Postville cemetery.
