Funeral services were held at 1:15 p.m. at the home and at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Monday for Mrs. Caroline Lenth, who passed away on October 2.

The rites were in charge of Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's, with Rev. Carl Bartels of West Union delivering the German service. Burial was in the Luana cemetery.

Mrs. Caroline Lenth passed away on October 2, at the age of 87. She had been in declining health for a short period of time. She was born on March 22, 1866 and baptized in the Lutheran Church in infancy. She, along with her husband, settled permanently in Postville about 25 years ago.

She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church by Rev. F. W. Seifert on April 6, 1879. She married Joachim Lenth on November 26, 1886, who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Johan Lemke and Sophia Bremer Lemke; two brothers, Henry and William; two sisters, Ida, and a twin sister Emma, who also lived in Postville for a time; a son, Arthur; and two daughters, Selma and Vera; and two infant daughters.

She is survived by four sons, Edwin of Luana, Lester of Harper's Ferry, Harry of Castalia, Lawrence of Monona; two daughters, Orphine, Mrs. Harry Kuthe of Monona, and Delphine Mitchell of Postville; 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Lenth and Minnie Schmidt.

Note: although this obit gives burial place as the Luana cemetery, it is misleading. She is buried with her husband Joachim in the St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Luana.
