Arthur S. Burdick

Arthur S. Burdick, son of William Nelson and Amy (Halstead) Burdick, was born July 18, 1875 at Postville, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, October 25, 1964 at the Community Memorial Hospital.

He attended the Postville Public schools and was graduated from the Valder Business College at Decorah.

On May 10, 1899, Arthur S. Burdick was married to Lillian Elizabeth Riley, at Postville.

A son, Edward L. Burdick, of Lost Nation, Iowa, survives. [He was preceded in death by a brother, Elbert Eugene Burdick, in March 7, 1948. He has 2 nephews and 2 nieces, Wesley and Eugene and Mrs. Amy Gates and Lois (Mrs. Ray Burnham).]

Mr. Burdick was Postmaster in Postville from 1900 to 1916. He was secretary of the Big-4 Fair for over 25 years. Part of his life was spent in the newspaper business.

He was a member of Brotherly Love Lodge No. 204 A. F. & A. M.

Masonic services will be held at the Schutte Funeral Home on Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m. with Ray Douglass and the Rev. Walter T. Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Postville cemetery.
