The people of Postville and vicinity were shocked and saddened on Sunday morning last to here that Miss Lucy Weihe, a life long resident of this city and locality, had passed away on the evening previous, her demise following eight years of failing health.

She was the daughter of Mrs. Henry Weihe of this city, a fine young lady possessed of many christian attributes. She was confirmed in and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church of this city, in which she was an ardent worker, and until failing health prevented was a regular attendant upon the services of the church. She was also a member of the Ladies' Aid Society in which she was ever active while strength permitted.

She was born in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, Iowa, December 13, 1876, and at the time of her passing was aged 58 years, seven months and seven days.

She is survived by her aged mother, four brothers, William, Charles, John and Elmer, all of Postville; and one sister, Mrs. F. H. Schepple, of Chester, Iowa.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city on Tuesday afternoon, July 23, at two-thirty o'clock, Dr. R. B. Garten officiating, and the large assemblage of sorrowing friends present to pay a last tribute to her memory gave evidence of the high esteem in which she was held by all who knew her. Interment was made in the family plot in Postville cemetery.

The following out of town relatives were here to attend the funeral: Fred Bauder and Mrs. Fred Miller of Rock Valley, Iowa; Rev. and Mrs. Frank H. Schepple and daughter Dorothy of Chester.
